Here's what Burnage Academy for Boys, said about a visit to the School with some of Quintons former teammates, some who are ex pupils of Burnage!
On Wednesday, the Quinton Fortune Football Academy visited Burnage and did two sessions with our Year 7 and 8 students. Over fifty boys attended the sessions and had a fantastic experience learning from some of the professional coaches from the academy. The boys took part in a range of drills aimed at improving their skills in football and gave them a taster of the fun and fast-paced sessions that the Quinton Fortune Academy aims to deliver. Their enthusiasm and effort was excellent throughout and it was great to see so many of the lads with smiles on their faces while they played.
Also making the experience special for the boys were ex-England and Man United player Wes Brown and his brother Reece, who are ex-Burnage Academy students and familiar to some of our staff, such as Ms Carter and Mr Lingenfelter. Quinton Fortune himself, who had a long career at Manchester United and Bolton, as well as representing South Africa at two World Cups, attended and played a big part in the coaching sessions with the boys. Danny Webber and Leon Mike, both Manchester-born ex-professional players, were also in attendance. All took part in a great Q&A session delivered to both year groups who wanted to find out what it was like to be a professional footballer and some of the things they had done throughout their careers.
The Quinton Fortune Academy are running excellent sessions on Friday’s, 6pm at the Energy Box, Levenshulme. For more information, email the academy at firstname.lastname@example.org
